In the 60s and 70s the Wall was quite a common butterfly in Dagnam park. From the 80s on numbers declined across the whole of southern England. It was last seen in Dagnam Park in 1994. This poor image was taken near the Priory in 1974. In Essex it is hanging on (2020) in a few coastal sites but numbers are very low. Hopefully one day it will return. |
